Cafe au lait, 27/10 I really, really wished I had taken a video of this!!! Monday, I had planned to meet with some of the people from my French conversation course to practice French while the AVF was closed for the holidays. Still not quite sure why they are closed. All Saints Day is Nov. 1st, but apparently the kids are out of school as well for the next couple of weeks. So, we had planned to meet at an Irish pub, O'Carolans. Unfortunately, when I got there, the pub was closed. So, I had a cafe au lait at the Cafe next door to the pub. It was a lovely day out, so I sat in the sun waiting for the others to arrive. In the meantime, there was a man playing guitar for everyone in the outside area. I don't think he was a bum, he was dressed fairly nice. But, he played for everyone and similarly, like the guy in Kassel, went around asking for tips when he was done playing a couple songs. Some people bought him glasses of wine as well. I couldn't stop thinking about a way to capture him on film. Maybe take a video of the fountain or church with the music playing in the background. But alas, I never saw my scheme to fruition. Anyways, I had a really nice time practicing my French with the group. It was a little hard to understand the speakers who were at a higher level than me, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I think I am better at speaking Franglish for the time being. I will definitely be going back to that cafe, so next time I will try to take some footage with music in the background. *Keeping my fingers crossed!* |
