Sylvia's art show, 07/10/08

The previous weekend, Ed and Astrid invited us out to dinner with some of their friends. There we met many people, among them Sylvia, who is a Canadian artist with Polish roots. She is the founding director of the Chi-Ki Children's Charity and donates the proceeds of her artwork. She invited us to her exhibition at "l'Art Cafe" the following Wednesday. Unfortunately, we didn't bring a camera, but there will be another exhibition some time next month, and we will be sure to bring our cameras then.

You can check out some of her artwork on the charity's website, but my favorites were the paper collages of a japanese woman. I took a picture of her postcard/flyer for you to see, but you'll have to wait until Andy gets back from his conference because he has the cord to upload pictures from the camera. it's to the left. In real life, the collage was actually quite big (~4 to 5 ft tall).

Other than that, we had a wonderful evening, full of good art, good friends, good food, and good wine! There was even a spinach dip in a bread bowl that reminded me of the good ol' days when Megan and I would make spinach and artichoke dip together! There was also fresh hummus, endive served with an olive spread, yummy brownies, peach pastries; ah, I could talk about food all day! And thanks to Sandra, a very friendly British woman, the Sangria and red wine flowed all night. She was a fabulous hostess!
